1-13, Jubilee Market Hall, Tavistock Street, London WC2E 8BE

Situated at the back of the indoor jubilee market in Covent Garden, this simple style restaurant serves quality homemade Italian food made with fresh authentic ingredients.

Wooden tables and slatted chairs are set close together, spilling out on to the pavement creating a continental street style café atmosphere.

Staff are friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients.

The restaurant is licensed serving a range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

A Pre-Theatre menu is available Monday to Friday 5pm -7pm, with two courses for £12.90 and three courses for £14.90 including a 125ml glass of house red or white wine providing excellent value for money whilst in London.

I chose the Margherita pizza with a thin crust sourdough bread base which was light and delicious. DT chose Bolognese pasta rigatoni which was nicely presented and equally delicious; both meals arrived hot to the table.

For dessert we both chose two scoops of ice cream from the extensive ice cream menu, served with cream and a biscuit.

Prima gets very busy pre-theatre and it is advisable to book a table and allow at least an hour and a half for service due to the number of diners.

If you enjoy quality Italian food in an informal setting I thoroughly recommend this hidden gem as the perfect pre-theatre choice; particularly for people visiting the Duke of York theatre, Noel Coward Theatre, Ambassadors or Duchess theatres.
