Situated in St. Martins square a short walk from the Bullring, Browns Birmingham is a bright brasserie style restaurant with outdoor seating areas for both diners and those just wishing to have a drink.
There is a lunch and early evening menu available from 12 to 7pm; with two courses for £10.75 and three for £13.95. A children’s menu, gluten free options and an afternoon tea menu is also available.
As it was a beautiful sunny evening we decided to take advantage of the weather and chose to sit outside, at a table opposite St Martin’s church which was a lovely experience.
We both chose a dish from the main menu. The chicken and avocado salad (£12.50), with pancetta, parmesan shavings, sourdough crisps, and Caesar dressing was light and tasty.
The chicken schnitzel (£13.50) with lemon and thyme breadcrumb, fried egg, and fries was nicely presented and served hot to the table.
There is an extensive drinks menu including beers, spirits, wines and cocktails. There are offers on certain cocktails (look for the martini glass symbol) at £4.50 each are excellent value for money.
We chose a bottle of French Rose (Cinsault £19.00) which was light and cold, a perfect accompaniment for the sunshine and our meal.
Browns is within walking distance of Birmingham Hippodrome and the New Alex Theatre. The set menus make this venue an excellent value for money option for pre-theatre or post-theatre.
