Bistrot Pierre, Waterside House, 46 Gas Street Birmingham, B1 2JT
Bistrot Pierre is situated in a beautiful grade two listed building overlooking the Gas Street Basin and is a short from the Mailbox.
This relaxed bistro setting is very warm and welcoming. Tables are placed throughout the various rooms of the building, offering different views of the canal basin. Soft lighting accompanies leather chesterfields and wooden tables, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Bistrot Pierre offers classic bistro dishes along with their own twist on regional favourites.
A children’s Menu and gluten free dishes are available.
A spring evening prix fixe menu is currently available up to 6:45 pm Tuesday to Saturday and all evening Sunday and Monday. This menu provides an excellent pre-theatre option and at £14.95 for two courses is good value.
A complimentary basket of French bread and butter was served before our meal arrived and this was a nice touch.
We chose the Poulet au citron; pan fried chicken breast with lemon, broad beans, smoky bacon in a light white wine and cream sauce, which came accompanied with fresh seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes. The food was nicely presented, arrived hot to the table, and was delicious. We found the portion sizes generous.
Our dessert choices of homemade Crème brulee and Mousse Au Chocolate were equally well received.
The staff are friendly and efficient and knowledgeable about the menu and produce used.
There is an extensive drinks menu available with a wide choice of beers, soft drinks and wines. We chose the Rose cuvee 94 (£12.95 for 500mls) which was dry and delicious and a perfect accompaniment to our meal.
I would recommend Bistrot Pierre as a pre-theatre dinner choice, for anyone who enjoys French style food, as it is within easy walking distance of the New Alexandra Theatre , Birmingham Rep and the Symphony Hall.
Visit the Bistrot Pierre website for booking and more menu choices.
